Alaska In Winter

Alaska In Winter與Beirut有很深的淵源,除了因為它們同樣來自新墨西哥州之外,Zach Condon就是八位團員之一,有時還會貢獻vocal.有這樣有名的團員,Alaska In Winter當然是格外的受到注目,換句話說,如果沒有Zach Condon,這張好專輯可能需要更多宣傳與聆聽才會廣為人知了.
不過他們的專輯Dance Party In The Balkans,除了一首Zach Condon獻聲的"Close Your Eyes-- We Are Blind"之外,其他歌曲可是與Beirut不太相同的.Alaska In Winter的音樂也可以帶來溫暖但也正如其團名,它的溫暖是在一片凜冽的寒風中.Brandon Bethancourt的聲音聽來像是穿透冰層的生命,細緻且充滿了活力,它沒有因為使用的樂器多就把整張專輯填的滿滿,適時的留下了空間讓聽者喘息,輕輕的感受冷風中的空氣.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs=Green Day?

MySpace上出現了一個叫做The Foxboro Hot Tubs的樂團,他們復古龐克的曲風就和EP封面一樣很有六零年代的風格,而這張六首歌的EP也放在他們的網站上供大家下載.不過大家聽著聽著都不自覺的想:主唱的聲音也太像Green Day的Billie Joe Armstrong了吧!尤其是'Mother Mary'這首歌如果說是Green Day的我也不會懷疑.於是The Foxboro Hot Tubs=Green Day的說法就此傳開,奇妙的是,原本在The Foxboro Hot Tubs網站上的EP這幾天被拿掉換成了一個時鐘.....
上禮拜宣佈明年一月要進錄音室錄製新專輯的Green Day本尊以前也曾經有以暱名'The Network'發過專輯的記錄.The Foxboro Hot Tubs到底是誰目前還不得而知,不過這個六首歌的EP倒也不差呢!

巴布狄倫的七段航程

我應該不是電影院中最年輕的觀眾;我很高興能有那麼多與我年紀相彷的人想要來看一部關於那個完全不屬於我們時代的偉大歌手的電影,我很慶幸我不是這個世代的少數.
電影一開頭我就被六個Dylan的畫面給震懾住了,接著就是那聲改變(善)了一切的機車催油聲,不知怎麼著我的腦筋轉的飛快,心跳卻好像停止了.原本我的心中預想,電影的進行應該會多少照著Dylan成長的順序,沒想到卻完全不是這麼回事(讓我有點擔心起被我說服來看片,對Dylan不太熟的朋友).雖然不斷的跳躍於不同時期的Jude/Arthur/Jack/Billy/Woody/Robbie,我還是很快的就可以喚出腦中所儲存的Dylan不同時期的故事;有時候我甚至會忘記自己正在看電影而沉醉於那一首首熟悉的歌曲還有每個在我腦中已經搬演過數次的畫面.

”I accept chaos. I don't know whether it accepts me.”

我所想像的童年Dylan也許不如小Woody那麼世故早熟,也比Arthur更加頹靡,又比隱居的西部大盜Billy還要再低調......

” You just want me to say what you want me to say.”

當然不免俗的我也要讚嘆Cate Blanchett臻至完美的演出,Jude所屬的時期是Dylan因為轉變曲風而被許多樂迷躂伐的時期,也牽扯到了他與Edie Sedgwick一段成為眾人話題的短暫情史.Cate Blanchett不只是外貌神似,對外界所施加在他身上的憤怒與媒體無情的壓迫下所有的反應不但深刻而且哀痛.,這樣時常話不留情,不可一世且看破一切的態度,不管背後有的是迷惘還是疲倦,Cate Blanchett最後一幕那個自信又神秘的笑容就是他的回答.一直在對抗權力的Dylan,在民謠成為權力中心的時候離開;你我都明白,權力導致腐敗 這齣戲碼不斷上演,但是只有少數如Dylan這樣的人知道什麼時候該停止,而在他沒有停止的時候,他的人生也能夠幫他暫停.

Journalist: "What is your real message?"
Dylan:"My real message? Keep a good head and always carry a lightbulb."



Dylan自私的訕笑,自滿的嘲弄,自溺的豪放,自省的黯然是多麼的迷人;我們有的不只是Another Side of Bob Dylan,而是每一個Bob Dylan.導演Todd Haynes用了前衛又少見的方式呈現了"Dylan is everyone"的概念,好像有點複雜但其實也不用多想;Jude/Arthur/Jack/Billy/Woody/Robbie都是我們所認識的Bob Dylan,可能還有更多不一樣的Bob Dylan待我隨著年齡增長而認識之.

A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation

利物浦的三人樂團The Wombats在Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts結識;你可以將他們的音樂類型歸為pop punk,但是越聽越會發現他們不只是這樣而已.從"Kill The Director"這首讓我認識他們的衝勁十足單曲(據說這首歌和The Holiday這部電影有關),到最近有點至敬意味的可愛歌曲"Let's Dance to Joy Division",The Wombats不只是爽快的的唱出了心情,也將這些情緒帶進了聽著的腦中迴旋.
A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation專輯中有許多出色的歌,不過最讓我impressed卻是一首有點抒情的哀傷小品"Here Comes The Anxiety".這首歌所講的焦慮可不是一些社會或責任的焦慮感,而是對於愛情(可能這樣會比較容易被接受!?)“I’d say that this is darkest song I ever wrote,”歌詞的第一句就這麼的說了,我們也準備好心情要來聽這個好像會很慘的故事.“I hope that no one ever leaves/ ’cause I don’t wanna be alone with me/ not with the things that rush up and down this infant spine.Here comes the love anxiety/ Can’t let it grab a hold of me/ Not after last time.”對那個女孩的悲忿語氣中帶著害怕孤獨的焦慮感,怎麼都無法抹去現在已經害怕去愛的孤寂.

Keane上個月底發行的單曲The Night Sky收了一首還不錯的cover, Queen和David Bowie的"Under Pressure".這首被翻唱過無數次的歌,Keane的版本不能說非常出色,但也還很值得一聽!

U2的經典專輯Joshua Tree發行二十年後的2007,推出了Joshua Tree的deluxe remastered版本.內容除了一張是remastered CD之外還有一張則收錄了b-sides和demos,再加上一張DVD.不過這其中最受注目的卻是一首花了二十年才正式錄製的歌"Wave Of Sorrow".
在U2的facebook頁面上有了一段Bono談及這首歌的片段.
