Who's next?

There are two active bands in the UK recently that grasp my attention: Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong & The Ting Tings. I wouldn't say they'll be the next big thing, but at least they might be. Just give them a listen and you can get the idea.

Nine In The Afternoon

去掉了"!"之後的Panic At The Disco果然比較快樂!新歌"Nine In The Afternoon"與第一張專輯所廣為人知的幾首歌幾乎是成對比了,他們這次的專輯Pretty.Odd依然是選擇了一個馬戲團式的幻想主題,但是更多了Magical Mystery Tour的歡樂氣氛.不知道是不是受到Beatles Love在Vegas演出的啟發,"Nine In The Afternoon"中我可以抓到許多與Beatles相彷的片段(一開頭的琴聲就像A Day In The Life,mv內容更不用說了),不管在音樂上和影像上Beatles的影響力果然是無遠弗屆呀!(咦,不是在講PATD的嗎...又扯遠了)

Rocket Science

"一個有語言障礙的小男生參加辯論比賽"是Rocket Science的主題,在這個看似感人勵志的故事卻是笑點十足而且還充滿了反叛氣味.主角Hal Hefner是個講話會結巴又害羞的男孩,因為家庭的失和還有一個會欺負他的哥哥使Hal經常活在無奈與挫折中,不過有一天學校辯論隊的明星Ginny Ryerson突然邀請Hal與他組隊參加辯論比賽,Ginny說的直覺告訴她Hal有許多潛力值得開發....
Rocket Science一直在我的必看清單上,更可喜的是它完全沒有讓我失望(Superbad就不如我想像中好看,but I'll give it a second try).就如一般小成本電影,Rocket Science沒有太多的場景但是整部電影很流暢也讓人耳目一新;Hal雖然有些語言障礙但他所說的每一句話都讓我屏氣凝神的專注聆聽(可能也是因為演Hal的Reece Thompson太有靈性了!),恨不得自己可以幫他一吐怨氣,略帶憂鬱又事事不順的Hal比起其他在大螢幕上看到的胡搞青少年更為真實,也更像我們自己高中時期般迷惘與糊塗.Hal在乎的不是比賽的名次而是尋找人生中那些無解問題的答案,在愛情親情和友情的奇妙變化中的我們到底要怎麼活下去?

An Alright Start

上一張專輯Let Go Of Your Bad Days已經是將近五年前的事了,The Salteens最近終於在網上站放了新歌'Hallowed Ways'. (In case it's the first time you heard them) The Salteens是來自加拿大的Power-pop樂團,他們的成功可以說多數是靠樂迷們的口耳相傳,在巡迴過程中不但受到加拿大本地樂迷的支持,也吸引了不少美國和日本的忠實樂迷.The Salteens的音樂一聽就會著迷, 雖然長度都很短,但輕鬆又好記的旋律在聽完之後會不自覺的跟著哼唱呢!

在台北的天空盤據許久的雲層今天終於離去,雖然我不討厭陰雨天,但是太久沒有變化的天氣還是略顯沉悶. 在街上兀自訕笑著那一位位穿著華美厚重大衣配時尚長靴的人們,心中哼著Beatles的Good Day Sunshine, 沒有什麼比這更快活了!
