Beatles to Bowie

Did you recognize the young David Bowie there? I so did not when I first saw the original photograph in London's National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition titled 'Beatles to Bowie: the 60s exposed' was indeed full of memories from the past that people in my generation might never truelly understanding. With the original photos starting from the year of 1960 to 1970, you can simply see the dramatic change in music, lifestyle and fashion in the swinging era. With every era there was an icon; and with the 60s, almost everyone in the music business can be an icon. Marianne Faithfull, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Cliff Richard...The Rolling Stone, The Who ,The Beatles--just name a few of the icons featured in the exhibition. Though I can see that I was the youngest people in the exhibition hall, but with those familiar-yet-totally-unfamiliar photographs staring right back at you, you would imagine yourself being an 60s child.

Arctic Monkeys- Cornerstone

I watched the premiere while I was in the UK. Quite shocked to be honest, never expected it to be so simple and funny. Love this video, totally adore Alex!!

An update

Hey guys, how are you all doing? I'm currently in Paris now, the final stop of my journey. The day i first arrived in London came the news of the dead of Steven Gately, such a huge shock in the british music circle. Eventhough Boyzone was not a very cool music group, their music can still be heard almost everytime you turn on the radio in the 90s. RIP Steven.
Anyway, I haven't really heard or saw anything interesting that's musically related to my blog. Hope Paris could surprise me.
Cheers!

adventure.

I'm off, again, to a little adventure in Europe. I'll be gone for a month, hopefully I'll be able to check in here with you guys once I've got internet connection. This trip is a huge deal for me, probably my last chance to spend such amount of time traveling for pleasure--like a month of escape. See you soon.

Soundtrack?

So, many people were talking about the New Moon soundtrack. Even though I'm not really excited about the movie, but I've got to admit that this this quit a killer soundtrack.

02 Band Of Skulls - "Friends"
03 Thom Yorke- "Hearing Damage"
04 Lykke Li - "Possibility"
05 The Killers - "A White Demon Love Song"
06 Anya Marina - "Satellite Heart"
07 Muse - "I Belong To You (New Moon Remix)"
08 Bon Iver and St. Vincent - "Rosyln"
09 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Done All Wrong"
10 Hurricane Bells - "Monsters"
11 Sea Wolf - "The Violet Hour"
12 Ok Go - "Shooting The Moon"
13 Grizzly Bear (Feat. Victoria Legrand) - "Slow Life"

Almost like a mixtape of my favorites bands, hope the movie could be as good as the music since they've changed the director!

So

Have I mention that I've been playing the Beatles Rock Band like crazy since its release? It's an exhilarating experience, knowing that you can actually play guitar while singing "And You Bird Can Sing" together with John. Basically, Beatles Rock Band are for those of whom who cannot play instrument or couldn't find enough people to actually jam with you. Besides, the bonus materials, like the limited-edition recording back in the old-days and the rare photos of the four beatles in the studio , definitely worth the play! And with the release of re-master collection, you should really go polished up your Beatles song skill!

First listen

So i've manage to get my hands on the new Muse album(which a lot of you probably had, too). First listen--stunned by the epic sound and the great intro in most of the songs, though i still couldn't get used to some of the "Queen moment". Indeed it's a new sound, Matt's guitar riff no longer plays a huge part in some of the songs; everything were carefully construsted and it shows how ambitious they wanted The Resistance to be. To me, the three-part Exogenesis Symphony is definitely the hightlight of the entire album, Muse had crafted an album full of unexpected imaginations and daring approached.
Love The Resistance. Therer are so much more to explore in this masterpiece.
