The mighty Noel Gallagher is releasing his post-Oasis solo album High Flying Birds on August 21. From the new single released yesterday titled "The Death of You and Me," that most people assumed is about the death of Oasis, we are sure to expect more Oasis-like tunes from Noel; after all, he wrote most of the Oasis songs. This song did remind me of "The Importance of Being Idle" from the album Don't Believe the Truth but with a more colorful and joyful message behind it. The first part The Bachelor was out in 2009, with this second half still-untitled album at wrok, Wolf made this minimalist video of the song Time of My Life. Went to see the documentary LennonNYC yesterday, at NYFF. Its' the world premiere of the film, many of John's old band mates and producers were there - and of course Yoko was there.The film documented the 10 years of John's post-Beatles life in NYC with Yoko, his fights for peace and the right to stay in the country that he truly feels at home -the United States. With each recording sessions, there was a story behind the songs and John's motivation; so many of the studio recordings and personal footages featured in the film were shown to the public for the first time. The chronological timeline help clear up many of my confusions over the years, and once again, John's mind and his music touched me just like they did 15 years ago. Before this film, I didn't really know Yoko that well, now I truly admire her as an artist, a woman and the wife of the most incredible man that ever lived.
Living in the city where John dearly loved, I cannot fathom how deep this means to me. I was changed because of his music, now I'm about to go through more changes in the city that changed John's life.

The crazy New York Fashion Week is over and I had the privilege to be a very small part of it. New location, new tent and to me, a totally new experience. "New York is the center of Fashion," that's what people says and I couldn't agree more. The love-hate relationships of the life in the City started to grow on me and at times just the thought of "being here" overwhelmed me. I've been to some concerts, some film festivals and was exposed to many of my favorite things I called my life; To me, Fashion and music come together and I often randomly choose a song as the theme of my style-of-the-day. Apart from The Strokes' after party gig for Tommy Hilfiger, I've heard some songs during runway show that reminds me of a certain time in my life. So glad I'm here.

Once again I came across this clip on Youtube, which I think is the best video that documented the Beatles mania in the early 60s. Funny moments aside, the way those girls screamed and cried during every seconds of the performance got me thinking--the crowd-surfing dudes nowadays all seems so calm and pulled-together compare to those shrieking girls!

Maybe next time during my favorite band's gig I'll bring a handkerchief and do the same thing.

Back in Feburary, the British artist Lightspeed Champion (aka Devonté Hynes) released his second album Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You after a two year hiatus and throat surgery. Like his first album, Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You is full of catchy melodies and cute lyrics that was woven together with delicately intricate strings -- but without the simplicity and added way too much sophistication. At one time there are moments that are extremly beautiful and others that you really just wanted to flash foward. No denying that Dev have one of the most distingtive voice of the generation but when the instruments become too overwhelming, his voice would lost its peculiarity.

Noel's first post-Oasis gig

Noel Gallagher from Oasis performed live for the first time after the recent spill, for Teenage Cancer Trust in Royal Albert Hal. The setlist is dreamy, he performed many songs that were the Oasis classics and some of his best solo songs. People who got to see this performance is super duper lucky!I'm tearing up just listening to the crowds sings along with 'Don't Go Away.'

MGMT-Congratulations

People might be a bit disappointed about the fact that, unlike the previous album, MGMT's Congratulations is lack of singles that can stands out like 'KIDS' and 'Electric Feel.' Without the guaranteed popular elements, Congratulations still surprises me with amazing details and fun rythm. The opening song 'It's Working' keeps me wonder if I was really listenign to MGMT, and then the Beatles-like 'Someone's Missing' truly makes the next song 'Flash Delerium' worked and was blown away by the exploding power of the song. Every song seems like a new start and for me it's very MGMT; of course the sound is more mature, and of course it felt a bit different then the first time--maybe less dancey. As one of the most anticipated albums of the year, MGMT's Congratulations is a very pleasant and admirable piece of work.

The Lonely Island - consists of the SNL Digital Shorts writers and comedians Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone - release a studio album in Feburary. The collaborations with Jack Black, Norah Jones, Justine Timberlake and Julian Casablancas were all so amazing and hilarious. Now they've made my favorite song in the album into a video!

Marion Cotillard is the new face of Dior and for the new campaign the fashion house invited Franz Ferdinand to write and performed a new song with her. Marion Cotillard sings and starrs in the music video of 'Eyes of Mars,' but sadly for some reasons , the bands in the video were stand-ins for Franz. Their style would totally fit the video though.

Talking about the writing process Paul explained, "When I saw the film originally, I was just watching and enjoying it, when at the end I found that the director had, unbeknown to me, put in the place where he wanted the new song another song of mine: 'Let It Be' sung by Aretha Franklin. I kind of left the theatre thinking well, I can't write another 'Le It Be' and I can't sing like Aretha much as I want to, so I might have to pass. But that evening, I came back from dinner and started doodling with some chords and I had an idea and it all grew from there."
